"I think that to really find “home” you have to step out from what you find comfortable. You need to take a risk, and find the parts of yourself you never knew existed. Then you’ll find the place where you really belong" - Andrew, American in Japan.
The experience of migration asks us to remove ourselves from familiar surroundings to build and nurture a new life wherever we land. Its a sink or swim moment, one that demands the most of us as humans.
Through the medium of photography and storytelling, this project explores the multitude of ways in which we adapt, trying to find ourselves in foreign surroundings.
All participants have been asked to describe their sense of home in their adopted country. Click on a photo to see their portrait and read their story.
